Lawrence Hall Junior Board Nominated for Associate Board of the Year

April 17, 2018
Our Lawrence Hall Junior Board was nominated for outstanding achievement in Chicago nonprofit sector

CHICAGO, IL — The Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Chicago’s Annual Celebration Awards annually honor the outstanding achievements in the Chicago nonprofit sector. YNPN Chicago received dozens of nominations across four categories including Nonprofit of the Year, Associate Board of the Year, Supervisor of the Year, and Young Nonprofit Professional of the Year. The Lawrence Hall Junior Board (LHJB) has been nominated to the final round, and voting by the general public has begun.

Made up of a wide variety of motivated young professionals, the Junior Board mentor the youth of Lawrence Hall through monthly experiential activities. These outings expose our young people to experiences many of them have not had before and include visits to the Lincoln Park Zoo, Shedd Aquarium, and Sea Dog Cruises on Lake Michigan. The Board is also a cornerstone of support for Lawrence Hall youth, attending talent shows and Friends & Family Day events.

At its Triple Crown fundraiser in May 2017, LHJB raised what amounted to a 45% increase in in year-over-year fundraising totals; the bulk of these funds were donated to fund vital programs that were impacted by the state of Illinois’ budget impasse. Additionally, the LHJB accomplished all this while implementing governance rule changes that increased member accountability, took into consideration members needs, and aimed to implement programming with higher levels of fidelity.

Winners will be announced at YNPN Chicago’s Annual Celebration on Thursday, May 3, from 6-9PM at WeWork Kinzie in River North. Learn about all the nominees, buy tickets to the event, and cast your vote at https://www.ynpnchicago.org/celebration-2018
