Our Therapeutic Day School focuses on each student’s unique needs and fosters autonomy, experiential learning, and skill mastery.


Chicago Public Schools (CPS)-referred youth ages 5-21

Licensed by the Illinois State Board of Education and a part of the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) network, our Therapeutic Day School delivers individualized instruction to CPS students ages 5-21 who need extra academic support.

With admission by CPS referral only, our specialized curriculum promotes mastery of academic, vocational, and social skill development within each student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP). Academics are complemented by a comprehensive visual art and therapeutic recreation program, promoting anxiety release and more engaged learning.

  • Over the last five years, our Therapeutic Day School has had a graduation rate of above 90%
  • Recognized as a School of Excellence by the National Association of Special Education Teachers for the past four years
  • Accredited by Cognia, formerly AdvancED, since 1974

When I came to Lawrence Hall, I was depressed. I started in art class and, through art, I learned to express myself, learning ways to cope.
