OUR 2026 CHAMPION FOR CHILDREN AWARD RECIPIENTS

The McCareins Family

The McCareins Family exemplifies an extraordinary, multi-generational commitment to Lawrence Hall, with more than 50 years of collective service in support of children and families.

Matt McCareins has served as an Officer of the Lawrence Hall Associate Board, actively contributing to the planning of development events and participating in client-centered activities such as WhirlyBall and bowling. His sister Megan McCareins has also supported Lawrence Hall over the years through involvement in a variety of fundraising and client-focused activities.

Kathy McCareins has been a devoted and long-standing member of the Lawrence Hall Auxiliary Board as a “Randall Mom,” helping to bring joy to children through Halloween and Christmas celebrations, birthday parties, and other special events. She has also played an important role on the Events Committee and was instrumental in establishing and cultivating the Healing Garden, creating a lasting space for reflection and renewal at the Hall.

Mark McCareins has provided transformational leadership as former Chair of the Lawrence Hall Governing Board and continues to serve as a member of the Advisory Board. A faculty member at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, Mark has fostered enduring partnerships between Kellogg, its students—including the Kellogg Board Fellows—and Lawrence Hall. During his tenure at Winston & Strawn LLP, he also introduced the firm to Lawrence Hall, resulting in years of generous pro bono legal support.

Although residing out of state, Michael McCareins has remained engaged through participation in Lawrence Hall events.

This Champion for Children Award recognizes not only the McCareins Family’s remarkable dedication, but also the many friends, neighbors, and colleagues they have inspired to support Lawrence Hall’s mission.
